Submitting Your Trial by Written Declaration

After downloading your defense package from DriversConfidence, follow these steps to submit everything to the court.

Step 1: Print Your Documents

  • Print all pages from your defense package
  • Use standard white letter-size paper (8.5" x 11")
  • Print single-sided for best readability
  • Make sure all text is clear and legible

Step 2: Sign Your Forms

Sign and date the following documents:

  • TR-205 - Sign on the signature line at the bottom
  • MC-031 - Sign and date where indicated

Important: Use blue or black ink. Your signature must be original (not a photocopy).

Step 3: Prepare Your Bail Payment

You must include payment for the full bail amount (the fine listed on your ticket).

  • Acceptable forms: Personal check, cashier's check, or money order
  • Make payable to: The court (check your citation for the exact name)
  • Include: Your citation number on the check memo line

Note: Do NOT send cash. If you're found not guilty, your bail will be refunded.

Step 4: Assemble Your Package

Put everything together in this order:

  1. TR-205 form (signed)
  2. MC-031 form with your declaration (signed)
  3. Any supporting evidence or attachments
  4. Your bail payment (check or money order)

Step 5: Mail to the Court

Mail your complete package to the court address shown on your citation.

Recommended: Certified Mail with Return Receipt

  • Provides proof of delivery
  • Tracking number to monitor delivery
  • Return receipt confirms the court received it
  • Cost: Approximately $7-10 at USPS

Step 6: Keep Your Records

Keep copies of:

  • All documents you submitted
  • Your check or money order (take a photo)
  • Certified mail receipt and tracking number
  • Return receipt when you receive it

After Mailing

The court will process your request and mail you a decision, typically within 6-12 weeks. Watch your mail carefully!
